With Canada becoming a Hague Convention member, Global Affairs Canada is no longer the sole authentication authority.
Apostille powers have now been distributed to Provincial authorities to reduce backlogs.
Alberta, Quebec, Saskatchewan, Ontario, and British Columbia now also have regional apostille offices.
Documents issued or notarized in Alberta, Saskatchewan, and Ontario can be submitted locally.
However, the apostille offices in Quebec and British Columbia will only apostille notarized copies of documents that were issued in these two provinces.
